Mayfair House is the transformation of a dated 1950s property near Guildford through a full refurbishment and two-storey extension by Mitchell Evans. The house was replanned around contemporary family life, with a light-filled entrance hall, new principal bedroom suite and more considered sequence of living spaces, while new windows, roof tiles and weatherboarding gave the exterior the identity of a contemporary country home. Beyond the building, landscape design by Studio Pollyanna Wilkinson and an outdoor swimming pool by Fowler Swimming Pools extend the same thinking into the garden, using planting, terraces and water to connect the rear elevation with the wider grounds.

Photographed for Mitchell Evans, the series responds to this relationship between architecture, interiors and landscape. Aerial views establish the geometry and scale of the house, pool, tennis court and grounds; ground-level compositions move between exterior elevations, framed thresholds, terraces and key interior spaces; and quieter details concentrate on joinery, material, colour and light. Moving between wider contextual views and more intimate design studies, the photography communicates both the overall intent of the project and the individual decisions that give it character, with the garden providing a visual thread throughout. Together, the images show how the different interventions form a coherent home and how its architecture is experienced through movement, atmosphere and connection to its setting.
